Located in the scenic village of Shootash, found just north of Romsey and Southampton, is the exquisite restaurant The Blue Hayes.
Embracing the motto of ‘Just Ask’, the team at The Blue Hayes aim to please guests in any way they can, though most may not need to ask for anything more than the sublime fare served.
Now accepting tastecard members, those who call in advance can enjoy a wealth of wondrous dishes at an excellent price, which provides the perfect excuse to indulge on more than simply one course.
Spearheaded by the immensely talented Head Chef Ian Oldham, who has worked at The Ritz, the Park Lane Hilton and spent time travelling Australia for inspiration, the kitchen is a cornucopia of culinary masterpieces, with Modern English dishes adorning the pages of the menu.
Begin the experience with one of the exemplary appetisers, such as the rich baked Camembert, partnered with a tomato enriched bread sticks, the irresistible shredded aromatic duck pancakes, accompanied with a sesame salad and plum sauce, and the delectable game terrine, complete with wild boar, coarse pork, venison, chicken liver and a red onion chutney.
Continue onto the main course, which offers just as diverse and delicious a selection. Particularly merit worthy meals include the sumptuous mushroom and Brie wellington, encased in a puff pastry and paired with roast potatoes, the opulent cream cheese chicken, bound with bacon and stuffed with sundried tomatoes and cream cheese with sautéed new potatoes, and the succulent medallions of fillet steak, served with potato rosti and a choice of Diane, Stilton or peppercorn sauce.
With so much more to choose from, as well as some utterly divine desserts, a meal at The Blue Hayes is not something to be missed, be it as a casual dinner or a special celebration.
Please Note: The Blue Hayes is closed on Mondays.
