The first Mogal E Azam opened in Nottingham in 1977, amassing great renown for its delicious curries and exquisite Indian cuisine.
Now branching out to the heart of Derby, Mogal E Azam offers the same high quality fare, thanks in part to the accumulated knowledge and experience of the talented team.
Members who call in advance with a tastecard can enjoy everything on the menu at an excellent price, and paired with the diverse ensemble of Indian delights on the menu, Mogal E Azam is sure to please every member of the party; even the picky eaters.
Begin the feast with one of the exemplary appetisers, such as the scrumptious Gaulati Kebab, minced lamb cooked with papaya paste, rose powder and a blend of secret spices, the tantalising Zene Calamari, tempura fried and drizzled with sweet chilli sauce, and the refreshing Monsoon Salad, tossed with figs, peach, fresh melon and a grapefruit and cumin dressing.
A wealth of classic curries, reinvented dishes and British classics adorn the menu, offering all tastes something utterly irresistible. There are, however, some truly unique dishes served as well, including the succulent Charred Ostrich, a fillet of ostrich enriched with garlic, onion and chilli, the sumptuous Duck Lajawab, aromatic duck cooked with cinnamon, lemon and star anise, and the opulent Malabar Lobster Curry, prepared with fresh turmeric and mango.
Founded by Sujat Sheikh, who claims to have created the first tikka masala, jalfrezi and more curries beloved by the great British populous, Mogal E Azam features plenty palate pleasers. Although the origins of the curries will forever be shrouded in mystery, there’s no ambiguity when it comes to how great the dishes taste at Mogal E Azam.
