Acting as both a wonderful restaurant and a brilliant bar, The Stack in Muchalls makes for a superb location to dine, whether guests are looking for somewhere laid back or a little more formal.
The former applies to the Bar area of The Stack, which offers diners a spot to truly relax that’s near the bar yet still serves the same mouth-watering Modern European style dishes.
Members calling advance with a tastecard can enjoy some fantastic discounts on all fare ordered, providing an excellent excuse to enjoy a few drinks at the bar.
With the establishment’s owner, Andy Smart, also acting as Head Chef, The Stack is certainly his vision. Part of that vision relies on the freshest ingredients available, and thus everything is sourced locally and seasonally.
Working equally well as accompaniments to drinks as well as precursors to a meal are the sublime starters, such as the scrumptious locally sourced mussels, prepared differently each day, the exquisite goat’s cheese soufflé, complete with chilli walnuts, smoked golden beetroot and roasted figs, and the refreshing tiger prawn and pickled melon cocktail.
Just as delicious are the main dishes, which feature the likes of the rich roast Barbary duck breast, served with braised red cabbage and duck leg stovies, the wondrous tamarind glazed Grampian pork belly and braised cheek, partnered with pumpkin and chestnut mushrooms, and the hearty The Stack burger, an aged beef brisket, short rib and chuck steak burger stacked with bacon chilli jam, Emmental cheese and a shallot mayonnaise.
Younger members of the party can find bite sized meals catered to them in their own menu, while the kid in adult diners will adore the heavenly desserts also available. Be it for a quick drink and a nibble or a luxurious meal, diners can’t go wrong at The Bar at The Stack.
