2 for 1 at NYC Bar & Grill

Part of an ever expanding chain, NYC Bar & Grill has come to Hull to serve the local diners some mouth-watering American dishes.

A new addition to the St Stephens Shopping Centre, diners now have the perfect place to refuel amidst a day of retail therapy, and when they call in advance with their tastecard they’ll have saved enough cash to treat themselves to something else in the shopping centre.

Offering a wealth of taste bud tantalisers, the scrumptious starters feature the likes of the classic nachos, available with chilli cheese, pulled pork and JD glazed chicken on top, the loaded potato skins, filled with Monterey Jack and a choice of sweet cured bacon, JD chicken or pulled pork, and the delectable mac and cheese bites, adorned with NYC’s special maple hickory glaze.

Presented with the hallmark hearty approach American cuisine is known for, diners have the choice between a plethora of hot dogs, burgers, ribs and salads, to name but a few options. Particularly merit worthy meals include the irresistible New York Chicken, complete with Monterey Jack cheese and pastrami, the spicy vegetarian Mexican burger, stacked with nachos, peppers and a flat mushroom, and the monstrous Sliders, Ribs and Wings, a meaty ensemble of barbecue ribs, chicken wings and miniature burgers.

Also providing plenty to please the sweet tooth, with a heavenly list of desserts available, there’s certainly the chance to have a good and gluttonous time at NYC Bar & Grill.

The tastecard was such a struggle to use. I went and visited this restaurant last night for the first time. On first impressions the staff were friendly and showed us to a booth you had to climb into as the table legs did not allow for graceful movements. The starters were amazing and for the size of portion well worth the money paid. The mains, all burgers, was lovely but I didn't like the chips, they were very stodgy and greasy but that's just my personal opinion. The waiters and waitresses...well there's a thin line between being friendly and polite and being rude and intrusive. They firmly fell into the latter category, different ones bugging you throughout your meal to see how things were or to obsess over the desserts, it got to a point where they might as well have joined you on the table, not a moments peace to eat. Some people may like that but I personally found it off putting. The desserts were amazing and the size of brownie you get for the price is amazing. When it came to using the tastecard however they struggled to understand that it was two couples paying for two separate bills with 2 tastecard but we just sat at the same table. They eventually got there and after 2 1/2 hours from when we sat down to when we walked out the door it was a very very long meal indeed but they did their best to make up for it.

    Would I return?

Possibly, the food was good overall when it got there and with the tastecard it's cheap. But the wait staff and their constant need to talk to you whilst you ate was off putting. "
