Kick things off with one of the scrumptious starters, such as the hearty homemade haggis fritters, coated in a homemade batter and paired with a sweet chilli dip, the irresistible prawn cocktail, adorned with a homemade Marie Rose sauce, and the scrumptious homemade beer battered mushrooms, available with a choice of barbecue, mayonnaise or sweet chilli sauce.
Continue onto the main courses, which feature a bounty of delicious British dishes. Particularly apt bar food items include the classic wholetail bread scampi, served with chips and a choice of garden or mushy peas, the juicy chargrilled 8oz beef burger, stacked with Lockerbie cheese and crispy bacon, and the succulent 10oz locally sourced sirloin steak, accompanied with beer battered onion rings, tomatoes and mushrooms.
With a wealth of local suppliers, such as Ferry Fish in Newton Stewart and Henderson’s Butchers and Mitchells produce from Castle Douglas, guests can rest assured that each dish served will be tantalisingly fresh, making the Bar and Lounge at the Urr Valley Hotel an excellent choice for those wanting some simple, yet superb, fare at a brilliant price.
