Boasting pride of place just opposite Glasgow’s Theatre Royal on Hope Street, Ad Hoc is a fantastic new pop up restaurant that has added the wow factor to dining in this part of the city. New restaurant openings sometimes struggle to find their feet but it seems that Ad Hoc has had no problem in establishing itself to Glasgow’s diners, serving a stellar Mediterranean inspired menu where the food really does speak for itself. A prime city centre location always helps things along a little too and Ad Hoc finds itself surrounded by the many shops, theatre and bars of Glasgow city centre.
It’s the food that is the star of the show at Ad Hoc, with a menu that showcases fresh, Mediterranean inspired dishes at their best. The warm lobster claw salad with new potatoes, roast asparagus, green beans and truffle oil will whisk you off to warmer climes the moment you tuck in whilst the Ad Hoc fish stew is a menu masterpiece, comprising of fresh mussels, clams, salmon and king prawns cooked in a rich tomato broth and served with garlic bread. Clean the palette with a sharp lemon posset served with meringue shards and fresh raspberries. There is a fantastic wine list to match whilst the cocktails are proving to be a legend in themselves.
With its close proximity to the theatre, Ad Hoc is a great pre show hangout, but its popularity stretches much further than the theatre crowd thanks to its outstanding food and drink.
