The UK has seen a surge of fantastic dessert focussed eateries open up over the last couple of years, and Dessert Republic in Manchester is certainly one of the better ones.
Serving a cacophony of sweet treats that really do put a smile on the face, the delightful eatery really is a haven for those with a rather large sweet tooth. Located in the outskirts of Stretford in Greater Manchester, in the area known as Chorlton cum Hardy, Dessert Republic is as it says, an independent state of complete sugary heaven.
So what’s on the menu? An array of sweet and savoury (but mostly sweet) pancakes and some pretty amazing waffles served with Nutella and smarties and topped with vanilla ice cream. The most decadent chocolate fondues, complete with marshmallows and fruit for dipping are always a favourite. The ice cream is provided by Movenpick and is simply divine, especially the cookie dough ice cream which seems to be one of the most popular. Milkshakes dominate the drinks list, thick and creamy and ultra-sweet – of course and make for delightful ways to spend some of the magnificent savings made by tastecard members!
Lots of pink neon and marble counter and table tops create a cool 1950’s style at Dessert Republic which is kind of cool and totally suits the menu. Diners are from all age groups (sweet stuff isn’t just for the kids is it) and prices are pretty reasonable. Dessert Republic gives anyone a great excuse to head out to eat and really does brighten up any day.
