2 for 1 at The Duncombe Arms

Lovingly restored thanks the efforts of owners Johnny and Laura Greenall, The Duncombe Arms serves the people of Ellastone in Ashbourne with an enchanting gastropub.

An eclectic array of irresistible dishes are available to one and all, though when tastecard members call in advance with their card they can enjoy it all at a splendid price.

Spearheaded by Head Chef Gary Auld, the kitchen is awash with fresh flavours and locally sourced ingredients, culminating in a wealth of wondrous dishes that cater to all tastes in style. This can be seen straight away with the exemplary appetisers, that include the likes of the irresistible pan seared king scallops, complete with a black pudding rissole, the rich Staffordshire game terrine, partnered with roasted sourdough and air dried ham, and the exquisite Blue cheese panna cotta, finished with candied walnuts and a red wine poached pear.

Continue onto the main course, where mouth-watering marvels await. Particularly merit worthy meals include the tantalising pancetta wrapped pheasant breast, served with sautéed kale, potato fondant and a blackberry jus, the invigorating artichoke risotto, crafted with Hen of the Woods mushrooms and roasted salsify, and the indulgent pan fried fillet of hake, accompanied by a bacon and cider mussel chowder.

Also offering a heavenly selection of desserts and a special menu for the kids, every member of the party is sure to savour their stay at The Duncombe Arms.
