Part of the luxurious Chatsworth Hastings Hotel, though a wondrous Indian eatery in its own right, Jali is a stylish venue that offers up an array of tantalising plates of food.
Be they guests of the hotel or those merely looking for a sumptuous bite to eat, all are offered a warm welcome, and a fabulous fine dining experience, at Jali.
The invitation is extended to tastecard members, who are able to partake in any of the dishes found on the a la carte menu at a superb price, providing they call in advance and produce their card upon arrival. With a range of Indian street food choices, such as the onion bhaji and the samosa chat, as well as a host of slightly larger starters, including the crab and cod based kekhda machhi pattice, and the dakshini lamb, all parties are catered to – be it a sociable one keen on sharing, or those looking for a more indulgent feast.
For visitors in search of the latter, there are a multitude of divine options available that are fit to suit any appetite, with both herbivorous and carnivorous diners being amply served. Particularly enticing examples of such can be seen in the tulsi seekh, a skewered ground lamb kebab adorned with cheese, coriander, cumin and paprika, the Goan fish curry, a fresh, local seabass fillet cooked in an onion-tomato spiced gravy with coconut milk and a tamarind puree, and the Paneer palak, a fresh spinach puree stir fried with garlic, cumin, and a homemade Indian cheese.
Found just a hop, skip and a jump away from the iconic Hastings Castle, the Smugglers Adventure site and the Hastings Pier, Jali makes for a fine spot from which to conclude a day of activity.
