Tantalise the taste buds with one of the exemplary appetisers, such as the rich limousin beef carpaccio, finished with roasted smoked garlic and a Boudin blanc Scotch egg, the delectable tomato consommé, a roasted heritage tomato complete with basil tapioca, and the heavenly scallops ceviche, marinated with chilli, pomegranate and lime juice.

Equally as exquisite are the main courses, which feature something sumptuous for all walks of life. Particularly noteworthy examples include the divine sea trout almondine, fried with almonds and a fine bean fricassee, the scrumptious aubergine caponata and grilled Halloumi, a spiced aubergine stew enriched with olives and capers, and the succulent porterhouse steak, paired with a choice of sauces.

Situated close to the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, the O2 Academy Bristol and Cabot Tower, guests can find plenty of cultural hotspots in the area to captivate their curiosity when visiting Hotel du Vin & Bistro – Bristol.

The restaurant had just accepted Tastecard. I think we were the first to use it, as the staff weren't aware of the fact, but after checking, they did their very best to reassure us & make us comfortable. We were a bit early for dinner, so we settled for a drink in comfortable arm chairs in 'the bar'. Our waiter 'Davis', couldn't have been more polite. He had a good understanding of the menu, and helped with our meal selection. We settled for fillet steaks, which were very good quality and cooked just as we like them. Once we'd finished, Davis carried our drinks back to the comfy seats in the bar. Overall this was a very good experience. Very comfortable and relaxed setting, offering good food & wine at good value ( with the Tastecard) & exceptional service (Thanks Davis, you're a credit to the hotel) "

  • " We were probably the first couple to use Tastecard, as the staff were initially unaware of the offer. That was soon rectified. I have to say that our waiter 'Davis' went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our meal. I have to recommend it. The food was good, the service excellent "
