First opened by Sir Richard Elwes in the sixties, The Elwes Arms holds a privileged position overlooking the Trent Valley, and is a convenient ten-minute drive from both the River Trent and the city of Nottingham.
The Elwes Arms serves great old fashioned and homely fare at modest prices. The kitchen makes special consideration for those with food intolerances and allergies, delivering an all-encompassing and enticing selection of food to suit any palate. Pub classics fill the menu, such as prawn cocktail followed by a homemade beef and ale pie, abundant with prime British steak in a rich gravy and accompanied by freshly cooked vegetables and mash. Homely and comforting deserts such as jam roly-poly and steaming custard are available to finish off the meal. My wife and I love the food at The Elwes, the chef is really versatile and we are yet to be disappointed. But the main reason we enjoy eating here so much is how they cater for my wife’s wheat and dairy intolerance, most restaurants and pubs still look at us like we are mad when we ask what alternatives they offer. But at The Elwes the chef is always more than happy to adapt an existing menu item, or even offer an alternative of his own creation.
