Not great at all. Food is very expensive and when the tastecard is used I'm pretty sure they give you smaller portions. The onion salad I ordered as a side consisted of a red onion hacked into inch thick rings! Not appetising at all. The chicken tandoori was pretty woeful to boot: dry and I've seen more meat on an anorexic canary.

The restaurant itself is pretty nice however and the staff were more than friendly to be be honest. Nonetheless, skimping on the food portions to make conserve money loss is NOT OK!! That is an abuse of the tastecard system!! A shame when the best thing I ordered was my beer: mongoose lager is pretty good in fact.

One of the most disappointing experiences I have had with my card. "

Never never never go to this restaurant...there are a million great curry houses in London, and unless you want some chicken floating in a tin of tomato soup and something resembling wallpaper paste...go elsewhere! Even with 50% off this was daylight robbery...really can't believe they had the cheek to put this food in front of people, let alone charge for it. "

Fabulous food and excellent service - at very reasonable prices - can't wait to return to London for another show and lovely delicious meal or two at this friendly restaurant (the chicken tikka is to die for). "

  • "The restaurant is in an ideal location for a pre theatre meal. In my opinion it is mostly geared up to be a tourist restaurant rather than a traditional Indian. The service was very good, all staff were very helpful and friendly. The quality of the food was average. The price of the meal was acceptable with the taste discount, but would have been very expensive without it (the prices on the menu are higher once in the restaurant then advertised on their website). We paid £13.50 for a lamb curry and £2.95 for plain rice as a bench mark. In essence - enjoyed the meal but will not be rushing back. Matt "

  • "Love this place.  Had so many good meals in here, and one thing I can testify to is their friendly attitude towards kids.  When I have friends over from abroad I like to take them here, and they go out of their way to give the kids mango lassi, ice cream etc.  Food is superbly cooked, it is always packed and really can't fault it.  Only wish they would do a 50% off rather than 241 as they often do the 50% off with others, which works better than the 241!  Emma Coelho "

  • "The food at Mela was delicious - by far the best Indian meal I've had for a long time. I would disagree with the 'cheap and cheerful' icon denoted on the restaurant description - simply because it carries for me negative connotations that do not describe Mela restaurant. The staff were professional, the atmosphere was relaxing and the food fantastic. Would highly recommend it.C. Booth "
