Bistro Le Coq is situated in the Staffordshire village of Stowe by Chartley, seven miles from the county town of Stafford. The Cock Inn is believed to date from the 15th Century, and has been established as a local hostelry for many years.
In 2003, it changed hands, and the new owners set about creating a new dining concept for this village pub.
Confirmed Francophiles, they decided to create “a little taste of France in a country Inn”, and so, ‘Bistro Le Coq’ came into existence.
With the help of a French Chef, Bertrand Le Clercq, they tried to create a range of classic French Bistro menus, which incorporate many southern French specialities not found elsewhere, either locally or nationally.
Alongside the pretty Bistro dining room is a small bar where both diners and locals can enjoy a drink or a cup of Coffee.
True to its roots as a village pub, a range of traditional hand pulled cask ales are offered, together with draught and bottled continental lagers. An excellent wine list is offered with a good range of French, European and New World wines.
Whatever your choice in food, you will receive a warm welcome from the friendly staff, alongside a truly delicious and colourful meal.
Please note: the tastecard discount is available on the fixed price menu. Any side dishes will be charged at full price, as usual with the 2 for 1 offer. The discount offer is not accepted on their Sunday lunch menu. The tastecard discount is not available on Mondays due to a set menu being served.
