We went on a Tuesday night it was very quiet and the waiters just kind of stood at one side of the room staring at you. I had to be very careful not to make eye contact as they would come over every time. The decor was shabby the place seemed empty. The food was very expensive for just an average curry. It was all ok but I wouldn't go back here "

" Ok, so I went with my wife to this restaurant as she had heard good things about it. As I waited for her outside the front door I noticed that the establishment only had a "satisfactory" food hygiene rating, so was apprehensive before even entering. Once in, I did notice that the kitchen was NOT open plan. I hate eating in places where they hide the kitchen away in the back...you just don't know what goes on then. Anyway, we ordered. The food is very pricey for an Indian restaurant, but I thought it was costly because the quality was 100%. It wasn't. The starters are average, my main was average...and we didn't have desert. I had sea bass which seemed to be a cheap cut of fish rather than the (better) tender flaky ones you sometimes get. The fizzy drinks were a bit flat...maybe the smart price bottle they poured it from wasn't closed properly and so lost its fizz? The naan breads were tiny and thin...usually in restaurants, one is all I need as they are either think, big or both...but not here, they were thin and small. My wife’s biryani was ok though. No poppadoms were given free which you usually get in Indian restaurants, Also the "salad" was poor...consisting of 6 cucumbers and a 3 leafs of lettuce. 2 vegetables in a salad...appalling. All taken into account, there are dozens of better places to eat an Indian in Leicester than here...two are just up the road, Agra, & The Tiffin and if you go a bit further to Melton Road you have the Tamarind & St Martins Inn to name a few off the top of my head. These are cheaper and have better quality food and a bigger menu choice....so IMHO go to these places instead. Sometimes you know a Indian restaurant is good because it actually has Indian's eating in it ... after all they should know good food, it’s their culture and cuisine... when we were there the restaurant was 25% full but none of the other diners were Asian...so that should have told us something! The restaurant does advertise that it has won some sort of award in newspaper clippings shown on the wall, but i'm dubious about this...maybe the food and service was good a few years ago, but when i went recently i would give the place 3 out of 10.
