It's time for "Bavarian Gemuetlichkeit" in the UK's capital

Let's celebrate "Ein Prosit"!

This is the motto of the Bavarian Beerhouse London, the UK's most authentic German/Bavarian Restaurant, which offers a wide selection of original German beers, typical Bavarian food and entertainment in a rustic beer-cellar environment. Only open since January 2006, it has become popular with locals and tourists alike who enjoy the authentic ambience and table service provided by charming waitresses in traditional Bavarian dresses 'Dirndl'.

The Bavarian Beerhouse London is a unique combination of a Restaurant, a Pub and Entertainment serving traditional Bavarian food from starters to desserts. This, along with the "Bavarian Gemuetlichkeit" (friendly atmosphere) give the Beerhouse its special character. The Restaurant is open 7 days a week.

I used to live in Germany and am fond of German food occasionally and it's not bad here. Using the Tastecard is really difficult as they insist on booking two hours in advance. This would be OK if it weren't for the fact that the phone goes to an office that is only open office hours. This means that if you decide on going there you have to book by five at the latest. I usually decide where I'm eating more spontaneously than that.

Without the discount I personally think it's overpriced, especially as they add 12.5% service. "

A group from my office went here last night. The beer was good and in authentic 2 pint glasses. The waitress was helpful and friendly. The music was entertaining but the experience was really let down by the quality of the food. We weren't expecting anything lavish but it was burnt and a bit dull, the only desert, apple strudel, was still a little frozen in the middle and not even hot!

Seems a shame to give it a poor review. "

I´m from Germany (not Bavaria though) and it reminds me a lot of home. The staff are really nice and engaging and the food is just like my dad’s cooking.

It´s a lot of fun being there with a large group, having shots and listening to typical Bavarian music. :) "

  • "You wanna have a great night out with some friends? The Bavarian Beerhouse is just perfect for this! I was there in December with a few friends of mine and we had an amazing time!!  I recommend booking a table in front as they are very busy on weekends. We had some Schnitzel and sausages and of course a lot of the good German beer.  I really loved the big beer glasses so called steins “you really should try this!” The waitresses were very friendly and served the food and drinks to the table. They taught us some German words as well and later on we were singing and dancing to the German songs! It was absolutely fun. Will try out the Beerhouse in Tower Hill next time! I bet it is great fun as well!!! Judy   "

  • "  I went to the Bavarian Beerhouse last weekend and had a fab time! The waitresses were always smiling, despite the fact the place was rather dramatic to say the least. The atmosphere was fantastic and I really felt invited to contribute-by the end even I ( a rather shy individual) was persuaded to sing along with the locals, 'stein' ( 1 litre glass) of beer in one hand and pretzel in the other! The food wasn't the cheapest in london, but certainly filled me up and tasted really good. I recommend the schnitzel for something different and unique to German/ Austrian restaurants, but I also enjoyed my girlfriend's cheese noodle thing I can't remember the name of ! I expected the Bavarian Beerhouse to be somewhat of a commodity that shouldn;t be that good of a place, but am really feeling like this is the start of a beutiful relationship with the place! I have never actually been to a bar in London where English people are seen really 'letting go' and not worrying about looking trendy, hip or sexy ( that's not to say there arn't sexy people there, my girlfriend actually caught me admiring a certain waitress and her, ach-hmm, cleveage) it's simply a place for people of all nationaliities to have fun. The beer is much better than English beer too. I ended up trying most of them on the night, and personally thought the Lowenbrau was the best ( much nicer than in cans from the corner shop!) I would not recommend the Bavarian Beerhouse on the weekend to couples over 80 who wish to attend a quiet place for a glass of wine- it's just not that kind of place, but if you're under 80 and not looking for a boring and quiet place to waste away then I can't recommend it more!   Chris "
