This is my third time in as many weeks that I have eaten at The Cape Town Fish Market.

The food is as fresh as can be, the staff awesome and the ambience brilliant.

Only been here for lunch but each time thoroughly enjoyed it as did my guests.

Back again next week for their mega deal with tastecard! "

Emily said "Good Food
Good mix of seafood and meat dishes here, wine is reasonable in cost and the service is usually quite fast. The inside of the restaurant is a little dated and reminds me a little of a smart 90s American style restaurant. Really nice to see the fish out on show as you enter. "

" Would not go back - lack of availability of staff, handwritten receipt that was not readable, overcooked fish and vegetables. Pricy and lots of better options. There is one good thing - location. "

" I dined here with my partner on a Sunday evening and would definitely recommend it. It was quiet but it still had a nice atmosphere; it is nicely decorated, chilled out music playing and there are some huge fish tanks near the front with some interesting sea life in them.

We had the calamari and the king prawns to start and they were delicious and came in reasonable portions (4 deep fried King prawns and a small plate of "Salt and pepper squid"). We had a bottle of white wine with it that was well priced (about £20) and was really tasty.

For the mains we both went for the surf and turf which was amazing. The scallops were perfectly cooked with delicious seasoning; the pork was really tender with really crispy crackling. We ordered a side of seasonal veg as the main just comes with mash and spinach (which are both buttery and taste great).

So overall the food was great, portion sizes were what I was expecting (slightly upmarket restaurant style), and the experience was really nice. Very much worth it on tastecard.

Also, they processed the tastecard perfectly and had no qualms about us making a booking only an hour in advance (their website says you can book a minimum of 2 hours ahead). "

Stephen said "Tastecard Portions?
When we arrived, we asked if we could use our tastecard and were told that was OK.

Although the fish served was fine, the helpings seemed pretty meagre, but I hadn't dined here before so didn't know what to expect when not using a tastecard. We were rushed through our meal as though they urgently needed our table to be cleared, although the place wasn't very full. My partner asked for a Coke to drink and I asked for tap water. The Coke was brought with ice and lemon, but my luke-warm tap water was plonked in front of me with disdain, with no ice and certainly no lemon. While they fulfilled their obligations, it was done with bad grace and without any fancy bits.

Whether or not our experience was influenced by the tastecard discount, we got the impression that we weren't valued customers and so we won't be going there again, nor will we recommend the place, as there are better restaurants in the area that treat you better and feed you better. "

"Ate here last night with a friend as I was craving seafood. I'm not normally one to write reviews but the food was excellent, the Calamari was cooked to perfection, my fish of the day was also done splendidly. The service was also very good. Great value with the tastecard and I will definitely be going back again sometime soon. I "

"Ate here on Tuesday night - the restaurant was quiet and there wasn't much atmosphere but the service was good and the food was excellent value on 241.  We had the ribs and the seared tuna and highly recommend both. Total bill for food plus 1 1/2 bottles wine inc. service was £54. JT   "

"Ate here with a friend from work last Thursday as I was so excited to see that CPT Fish Market was on Taste!! Great place, fab ambience, superb service, fresh produce and so tasty. Calamari is divine, so tender.  Didn't get to try their melktert (milktart) as was too full but next time I'll make sure I save space! LO   "
