Nestling beneath the exhilarating backdrop of Ben Ledi, The Waverley Hotel is ideally situated on the main street in Callander.

A very traditional Scottish theme is featured in The Waverley's bar and restaurant with various claymores, swords and targes hanging on the walls and the floor covered with the old favourite tartan carpet.

The restaurant offers an appetising menu based on locally sourced food and includes some of Scotland's favourite and classic meals. All dishes are home made by the expert kitchen team.

The bar was winner of the CAMRA Forth Valley Pub of the Year 2006 and stocks a fabulous selection of regular and guest ales that are constantly changing.

Went quickly downhill with the arrival of my main course which was billed as lasagne but I have my doubts! Once I soaked up all the excess oil from the cheese, I was left with a lump of mince which had the weirdest of textures and was, in short, inedible.

    Although I wasn't asked about my meal nor why I never ate my dinner, I was pleased to note I hadn't been charged for my lump of mince and assumed it was because they recognised it was inedible. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was because I had my card!

    My partner and I had a good giggle but seriously guys, I wouldn't bother! "
