Banna Thai is an authentic Thai restaurant which is owned and run by husband and wife team Tan and Worawit Pornwattana.
Tan has extensive experience in producing fine Thai cuisine, working in the family business back in Thailand and later creating fine dishes in many Thai restaurants in London. Tan and Worawit moved to Waterford in 1998 and opened up their first Thai restaurant, Banna Thai, on Maylor Street in 2001. In 2005, after 4 successful years, they decided to open their second Banna Thai restaurant in Ballingcollig.
Their success has been down to a determination to ensure that every meal is cooked using fresh ingredients and produce with no preparation in advance. No additives are added, as they believe in producing good healthy dishes.
This commitment to producing food which is good for you is why they use healthy alternatives such as brown rice, olive oil, light coconut and soy milk.
Banna Thai delight in offering gourmet flavours, drawing from beloved family recipes, especially highlighting the robust qualities of Thai dishes. To truly appreciate these cuisines, they assist their guests in the art of balancing tastes and textures, delighting the senses with appealing colours, aroma and, most of all, flavour.
