" From first phone call to book our meal to the point we left we were completely satisfied with the way we were dealt with. The food was second to none, the service was first class, I have to point out the exceptional service we received from Sylvie and Amanda, nothing was too much trouble for them, Sylvie also explained the significance of fortune cookies and also red envelopes, ( thank you for that ). Excellent. Now that covers the Real people who are on the front line, the sour note, and the point that stopped the max star score... The corporate and faceless morons who mess up EVERYBODY'S day, Holiday Inn... here at the bottom of the bill are the words, " goods and services supplied are subject to a 12.5% discretionary service charge " AS WELL AS A SPACE TO PROVIDE A GRATUITY. So that would seem to me that Holiday Inn would rather that we the paying customer should pay the staff wages as well. I would always leave a gratuity for good service etc, but absolutely abhor corporations that also would have the cheek to expect a service charge to pay for their own staff. Beyond contempt. So at a local level, the staff (paid for by the customer X 3 times), to be commended. The corporation at their faceless moronic level, to be condemned, ridiculed, named and shamed. So on principle, I will never set foot in a Holiday Inn again. I may be lucky enough to be in the position to have principles, but this needs to be addressed by the general public, and the way to do that is by letting your feet do the talking. ... go elsewhere.
