Located at the heart of Kensington and Chelsea, the Light Of India is a brisk walk away from beautiful expanses of Kensington Gardens, the elegant stores of Knightsbridge, Kensington and Chelsea. The neighbourhood is home to the likes of many celebrities and social faces. Established since 1984, they have rebuilt a good reputation against the keen food critic. It has yet classical and authentic decor which creates an atmosphere for the appreciation of fine Indian cuisine.

The restaurant is fully licensed and air-conditioned, helpful staff will attend to your every comfort making sure that you would have had the best Indian cuisine in Kensington. The chefs are there to provide you with the meal that you'll never forget, combined with lavish spices, herbs and that extra special ingredient which will make sure that you will have a meal that you'll never forget.

Many celebrities have dined in this fine restaurant to name a few, Michael Caine, Anthony Hopkins, Take That, Spice Girls, Russell Grant, members of the Australia and South African cricket team, Noiseworks rock band, and Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child.

The chef Kumar, has been in service with the Light Of India for over 15 years. His diminish style of fine and traditional taste has replenished his style of cooking. " We called the restaurant Saturday night, as it was advertised that tastecard is OK on Sat. Our reservation was accepted. However, when we arrived the staff said that they do not accept the tastecard, and to our objection, he asked us to sit and wait in the lobby of the hotel. We waited until called. The food was fresh and tasted deliciously. The service was generally polite but I could feel they were rushing us a bit. The atmosphere was pleasant and the only downside is that we could smell what had been cocked in the kitchen, especially tandoori dishes, which was not really so pleasant.
The surprise came when they brought the bill, which was quite more than what we ordered. So, we ended up paying almost the same as we would have paid without the tastecard. I was with a man who did not object and immediately paid the bill in full. So, we never questioned why the bill came so high. The waiter insisted that the tip is not included and I added a small tip on top of what my friend paid. My companion then noted that a separate service charge was included. So, even though the food and atmosphere were nice, I felt that we were not treated fairly and were charged excessively. I was asked to print and also sign my name and card number on their copy of the bill. Will I go back there? Probably not, only if I would like good Indian food and do not mind paying fools prices. "
