Euro 2012 is here

Love it or hate it, the Euro 2012 is well underway. And how could you hate it? Apart from Christmas, the Jubilee and the Olympics, it is one of the rare times this year where one occasion will bring so many people together. The sweet sport of football is responsible for bringing together families, friends, children – even women (if you decide to shop whilst your other half is in front of the TV).

With the quarter finals kicking off this week I’ve put together a list of bars and restaurants to watch the game meaning you can eat, save money using your tastecard AND still catch every minute of your team!

Cambridge

Quinns Irish Pub

Outside shot of the Irish PubFor a fantastic family orientated atmosphere you can’t go wrong with Quinn’s Irish Pub within Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cambridge.

It boasts a generous five TV screens guaranteed to ensure you can see the screen from most spots in the pub. It offers a fair sized menu guaranteed to suit all with favourites such as fish and chips, chilli con carne and various sharing platters. Sunday makes way for a traditional Sunday roast which is available for an amazing £7.95! Please note however that you cannot use the tastecard on Sunday roast. You can use it on the lunch and dinner menus though!

The pub has a very earthy feel (think Waxy O’Connors) with a dark wood theme lining the walls and frames. You won’t fail to notice the tartan carpet upstairs. You don’t have to be restricted to sitting at a table. Get in early to nab yourself a spot on the comfy brown leather sofas. There is also a selection of newspapers to catch up on news during half time.

What can my tastecard get me?

With your tastecard you can get 50% off your food bill for up to six people. Friday night and Saturday night are excluded. Ensure you ring to book beforehand.

Essex

Mooro’s Restaurant

Mooro's Restaurant InteriorIf you want a little hint of the TOWIE life head over to leafy Chigwell in Essex. Mooro’s was formally known as Woolston Manor, which was owned by Sir Bobby Moore and Sir Sean Connery. It was badly damaged in a fire in 2008, it was restored and renamed to Mooro’s (actually not sure where the name originated from but if you do please let us know!).

At Mooro’s you are more than likely swayed into this restaurant to sample its all American food menu and watch the game on one of their 12 HD TV’s. They offer a wide drink selection with offers (including jug offers), their extensive food menu has something for everyone. Calamari, Nachos, Caesar salad, piri piri chicken – is your mouth watering yet? You can reserve a private booth too!

What can my tastecard get me?

Customers can get 50% off of the food bill at Mooro’s restaurant for up to six people. You must ring beforehand. Tastecard can only be used on the a la carte menu, this excludes the Sunday Roast menu.

London

The Arena Club and Sports Bar

The TV Bar at The Arena ClubHop over to North West London and into Arena Club; a fully furnished sports bar with an extensive late license – perfect for post-match celebrations into the night. They have seven big screens and can boast of the largest projector in North West London.

Different to the usual menu you’d find at a traditional sports bar – this bar serves fine Indian cuisine. The wide selection of dishes on offer will have you singing “Vindaloo” all the way home. It’s extremely close to the tube station so you can leave the car at home too. Bonus!

What can my tastecard get me?

You can get 50% off for you and five other people. This excludes Friday nights and Saturday nights. Please call beforehand.

Newcastle

Nancy’s Bordello

Nancys BordelloUp north head into a pub with quirky flavour – Nancy’s Bordello. Walking inside you may feel as if you’ve stepped into a nightclub and question whether you will see the match in such a sophisticated styled location – fear not, this bar features 4 TV screens and pool tables plus a fantastic menu to whet your appetite. Expect handmade beef burgers, bangers and mash with caramelised onions, spinach and ricotta cannelloni – and if you’re up for the challenge – Nancy’s famous foot long sausage baguette. If you want a more intimate affair there are booths with private TVs.

What can my tastecard get me?

You can use your tastecard to get 2 for 1 across all courses. This excludes Saturday nights. No need to ring beforehand – you can walk in to use the card! Perfect for those impromptu visits.

Sheffield

Champs Sports Bar & Restaurant

Ending back on a rather traditional note, Champs Sports Bar is the place to be for groups. The crème de la crème for finding a place on popular Ecclesall Road to watch the match, it has a whopping 40 (yes you read that right) flat screen TV’s, a giant outside TV (as if that wasn’t enough) with 20 dedicated sports channels. You can’t fail to keep up to date with Euro 2012 in this bar.

The menu is a carnivore’s dream come true – chicken wings, sticky pork ribs, cheese burgers, chilli burgers, “blue burgers” where do I end?! You’d be hard pressed to not be able to find something on here that you like.

What can my tastecard get me?

Enjoy 2 for 1 on all courses from Champs extensive menu. This excludes Fridays/Saturday nights. Please ensure you ring beforehand to secure your spot.

I hope this helps you decide where to find the best spot to watch the game this summer – but we know there are a lot more – have you found somewhere particularly memorable to watch the game and use your tastecard?

Hi Nick, thanks for your response. Is that so? I really thought it had something to do with Sir Bobby Moore’s name! :)

Oooh Matt, now you’re asking! Hmmm – perhaps best to avoid Italian restaurants for a bit unless you want salt in the wound! ;)
