If you are like me and you don’t really plan ahead where to dine, the tastecard app is the way forward and the best thing it’s free.
My friend and I are spending the day mooching around the city of Manchester with iphone in pocket and plans for an impromptu visit for a late lunch.
After shopping around for a couple of hours, we stopped for a coffee at a quaint little bar and decided we were feeling peckish.
The Search Begins…
I opened my app and entered Manchester on the Search function and using the location services it showed all the restaurants within the city on taste. I was surprised to see the different variety of restaurants on tastecard within Manchester, there is a massive range of international cuisines and cultures.
I wouldn’t call myself the most tech savvy of people; however I found the app very simple to navigate through. The app has some great functions, you can advance search by entering location, availability, price, cuisines, number of diners, and offer type. If you are located within London, you may search by landmark and stations. You can even save your favourite restaurants.
Pre Booking
After debating what we actually fancied to eat, we decided that we didn’t want anything too heavy so we were thinking Italian, Spanish or Greek.
We chose La Tasca on Deansgate as it is in the perfect central location.
The app advises that you have to call to pre book, firstly to see if there is a table available and to also advise the restaurant that you’re a tastecard holder. We had no problem in booking a table with our tastecard and we advised the restaurant we will be there within thirty minutes.
Hola La Tasca!
We arrived at La Tasca and received a warm welcome from our waitress; the restaurant was very lively as it was a Friday afternoon. The restaurant has a rustic look over two floors with a lovely ambience and is very well planned out.
I am a big fan on Tapas and sharing food, the tastecard discount is on 2for1 on all courses ordered on the Tapas to Share Menu only.
We chose Rustic bread with olive oil and Tapas dishes to share and a pitcher of Sangria.
The waiting staff were friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious to a very high standard and very authentic.
The bill should have been £44.80 and after discount it came to £28.00 with drinks, we had a discount of £16.80.
I feel very confident in using my app and will continue to enjoy spontaneous dining. The tastecard app is available on iphone, android and blackberry.
Muchos Gracias La Tasca!
p.s. How is your experience with the tastecard app? Have you got a spontaneous dining experience to share as as well?

Hi Harry
Thank you for your comment.
We do indeed have an app for your Sumsung handsets.
To download the app please visit your android market on your handset or on Google play and search tastecard. It is important that you have the GPS switched on in your settings on your phone, as some phones will not have this on automatically.

Big Tastecard fan! Love reading the blogs, keep them coming
We often dine at Cafe Rouge in The Mall shopping centre, Cribbs Causway, Bristol. The staff are friendly and attentive, the food is good value for money. As we are retired, we find the tastecard a affordable way to dine out regularly.
Never used Tastecard before! but after being put on to this by a great good looking source and reading this Blog I’m going to download it now….Thank you Linn keep up the good work!!
