Anthony:"Very good food and service A very good lunch, with attentive and friendly service. The venison and black pudding scotch egg and the pork ribeye were excellent. The only problem was that they struggled to cope with my card on the app, needing it emailed, which doesn't seem to be a feature"

Phil:"Ok. But just ok. We went to Chambers on a Thursday night in the summertime. It was pretty much empty other than another couple of diners and we had the run of the place; however, two courses still took us a good while to get served.
The food was variable. I had an amazing starter of smoked pork tenderloin which was followed by a fairly chewy lamb shoulder and tough artichokes. My girlfriend greatly enjoyed the octopus salad, but the 'beer battered fillets of Dorset plaice' and chips was nothing out of the ordinary.
The atmosphere was very strange as it's a hotel restaurant. It's difficult to find in the first place, and the toilets are located through the bar, down some stairs, past the gym and then through a bit more of the rabbit warren. Also, a party of four arrived and were placed on the table right next to us in the virtually empty restaurant, and we felt very much included in next door's conversation as I'm sure they did in ours.
We did pay the included 12.5% service charge but had to ask to get our change back. I booked, saying we were using taste card, but when the bill was brought none of the deductions had been included and I had to ask for it to be taken off.
Overall, it was fine. We won't be going back but it's ok with a taste card - I certainly wouldn't recommend it at full price."

Ian: " Still a very good place to take friends as it is very central and very convenient. The waitress had a poor command of English. Found it difficult to order as I did not trust her whether she understands or not."
