Platform 61 in Dublin is a classy basement hideaway that’s well worth venturing into.
Platform 61 has a succinct menu that has been skilfully designed to represent quality and precision cookery. From the start, it is clear to see that this restaurant is concerned with fine ingredients and a food catalogue taking its culinary inspiration from home and away. Pressed ham hock served with apple and pear chutney atop sourdough toast; spiced lamb meatball; blow-torched chilli prawns, and St Tolas goat’s chees pastille introduce the discerning menu with a flourish.
The ingredients peppering the main course options are equally as sublime as the appetisers. Dry-aged rib eye steak; a vegetarian pasta dish comprised of mascarpone, truffle, Portobello mushrooms, baby spinach and aged parmesan; and a delicate recipe of pan fried cod with baked potato mousse alongside other delicious pairing accompaniments are fine examples on show. Partner the main courses with a choice of side dishes which include a super salad or roast potatoes with chorizo. The sweet trolley is a joyous riot of blackberry and apple crumble; warm nutty brownie, and white chocolate and raspberry brûlée. The well-dressed plates of food are artfully executed and skilfully crafted with a taste too good to miss.
The venue’s private and intimate basement location is inspired by the famous abandoned underground platform situated under New York’s Waldorf Astoria. Named Track 61, the Wardolf’s unique feature enabled discerning guests to enter the premises unnoticed. At Platform 61 the venue has taken that same feeling of privacy, intimacy and warmth to create a contemporary and fashionable premises underground.
Platform 61 in Dublin is a chic and unique cosy restaurant perfect for a first date or an intimate meal with friends.

Lee:"Excellent On a trip to Dublin we visited Platform 61. Absolutely excellent. On a recommendation I went for the Jacobs Ladder. Glad I did it was excellent full of flavour and we’ll complemented with the sides. The other half had the pasta, again lovely mushroom & truffle dish. Just having enough room we went for deserts the chocolate brownie and ice cream was densely rich and the brûlée light. Both excellent deserts to finish the evening. If you get chance definitely worth a visit but a reservation is a must at the premises are small"
