Jill:"Really nice lunch Three of us met here in January for a mid week lunchtime catch up - this was a new venue to all of us and one picked for the mid-point location. The car park was limited but we had no problem parking and the pub was fairly quiet, several customers but no sense of crowding. We were made to feel very welcome and had a good look at the menu, which was as we'd expect for pub food.
We really only wanted a main course and there was a really helpful response to a request to switch chips / carbs for vegetables. My friends both had pies, the steak and ale was a substantial square pie, almost architectural. The mediterranean spiced chicken breast was cooked to perfection - moist and tender and the vegetables, though simple, were superb - tenderstem broccoli with a bit of crunch, grilled courgettes, tasty swede & carrot mash and light and creamy mashed potatoes - good food cooked really well. We spent quite a while catching up on eachother's news and felt under no pressure to hurry up.
The pub is really pleasant, charming and, despite the low ceilings, feels quite airy. Loos very nice, clean and everything worked (warm water for hand washing and no broken loo seats).
We left wondering when we could come back for another reunion - and maybe manage another course ...."
