Mr Abdul Rashid has owned the business for over 24 years. Originally called the Golden Gate, it was one of the first restaurants to open in Horsforth. The building itself is an historic building part of the Horsforth village and used to be a horse saddlery in the early 1990s. Mr Rashid worked passionately, extremely hard and dedicated long hours establishing his restaurant's reputation to be of a good quality. He aimed to offer excellent service and introducing Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine to the area.
Sadly Mr Rashid passed away end of 2010, but his daughters are carrying on running the business, a dream of Mr Rashid's that they will not allow fading away. Mr Rashid was a well-liked and very popular person who was friendly and very welcoming. He had made a lot of friends in Horsforth and in around Leeds- friendships that date over two decades. Nasmin Rashid and her sisters have all teamed up to help restore The Golden Bengal, in Horsforth, to its former glory.
