SC:"Rude Manager Been here a few times to use the card mid week and enjoyed the food however my partner and I went here on Friday, we asked on arrival if we could use the Tastecard and the female waitress winked at us and said yes of course. When choosing our meal I checked whether starters were included in the 2 for 1 offer. I then saw it said not on Fridays and I said to my partner 'oh that's why the waitress winked at us - that's nice of them!'. We had a nice male waiter serving us. I asked again if ok to use the card - he said yes. Brill. Ordered food, very nice. Bill time - he went to his manager as not sure how to use the card. She came over - wow, such a rude woman. She said we can't use the card on a Friday. I said 'oh we were told we could and ordered what we did because we were told we could use it. She said 'no you can't'. This went on for a while, she was extremely unfriendly and made us feel we had done something wrong. She told me (with the restaurant watching - tables are close together there) that it is our responsibility to check and no way can she do the offer as it won't work on computer, she kept telling us we were in the wrong, had to pay full price, no way around it. I explained to her that both of her staff told us we could use it, we were not trying to break the rules. When she said it was our responsibility, I said 'it is also your responsibility to ensure your staff give out the correct information'. She went off in a huff and came back with the bill with 2 for 1 included. Surprise - the computer could run it through. She kept going on at us still - so much so that I could feel myself going red. She demanded to know which female waitress said yes - I said I couldn't describe her - no she said, which one - I replied 'well I hardly know her name do I? Do you really want to line your waitresses up so that I pick them out in a line up?' So uncomfortable! We paid, noone said goodbye, we felt like we were unwelcome and had done something terrible (I think the waiting staff had been told off heavily by her nearly as much as us). Of course I should check the terms - my mistake. However, two staff said yes (with a wink) - it was a simple mistake and we did check twice. We did not deserve to be treated like we were cheap skates trying to trick a restaurant into getting a deal!
Dear 'manager' - don't try and humiliate your customers like that at their table in front of other diners and tell them they are irresponsible for not checking the finer details. Perhaps see you have also failed to train your staff and there is no need to make people feel so uncomfortable for it. You ruined a nice meal. I think you could do with training from your staff as that's not how you treat people, you still got a fair amount of money out of us. We were not trying to get a cheeky deal out of you. Not sure you're in the right job and if you behaved like that at my workplace, dear Lord."
