Situated amidst the sweeping East Sussex countryside between the towns of Haywards Heath and Lewes, family run Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant Newick Tandoori has firmly established itself as one of the area’s premier destinations for a curry. Opened over 25 years ago, this superb restaurant has simply grown better with age and serves a menu which has developed over time to include modern day Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine along with all of the old classics.
There is plenty to get excited about on the Newick Tandoori menu, featuring a wide range of popular Indian dishes from around the Indian sub-continent. The signature dish section of the menu is lengthy and promises some enticing dishes such as the Duck Laziz – a pan roasted duck breast cooked in a spicy sauce with Kashmiri chillies and served with cumin rice; the Lal Mass – a hot and spicy slow cooked lamb cooked in a yoghurt and coriander sauce and the Amchor Chingri - charcoal grilled king prawns in a mango sauce served with dill rice. The accompanying wine list has been carefully chosen and offers both Old and New World vintages to suit most dishes on the menu.
Newick Tandoori is an elegant dining room decked out in elegant light blue and white tones. Tables are covered in pristine white linens and pretty curved banquettes provide some of the seating whilst funky wallpaper adorns the walls. Service is superb and one of the main reasons, aside from the quality of the food, that the restaurant has remained open for so many years.
