Located in the fashionable area of Notting Hill in London, La Cave a Fromage is a superb deli and bistro café. The third La Cave a Fromage to be opened by Amnon Paldi and Eric Charriaux, this Notting Hill outlet is found along the legendary and eclectic Portobello Road, home to the famous antique market. Paldi and Charriaux also own wholesale cheese company Premier Cheese, suppliers to top UK restaurants such as The Waterside Inn and Cliveden, and are therefore experts in their field. Their highly skilled “Cheese Ambassadors” at each La Cave a Fromage are passionate about what they do and are on hand to assist with choices and recommendations.
Although compact in size, La Cave a Fromage in Notting Hill dishes up a tantalising menu which draws on the best produce from the display counter in the shop. Cheeses and charcuterie from the UK and Europe are brought to life in a wonderful culinary feast. The balanced cheese board is well worth trying, featuring six different cheeses including a goat’s cheese, a bloomy rind, a semi hard, a hard, a washed rind and a blue cheese while the baked Normandy Camembert with a variety of charcuterie is always a winning dish. Some rather fine wines are available by the glass or by the bottle too, the perfect accompaniment to the food.
A funky, contemporary shop and café, the Notting Hill La Cave a Fromage features both a Tasting Café and Wine Room as well as the huge deli counter. Square Formica tables come in a variety of primary colours and funky stools provide the seating.
