Arc Inspirations have brought The Pit - their stomach-busting American BBQ restaurant and bar offering - to Harrogate after the success of the first three branches in Leeds. Offering diners a unique bounty of burgers, ribs, burritos and steaks, The Pit has a rough ‘n’ ready theme that screams all things Americana.
Pull up a pew or nestle inside one of the restaurant’s leather booths, and begin your indulgent feed with Mexican tacos, loaded nachos, or the unmissable sweet potato Philly fries, which are smothered with pulled brisket, blackened onions and melted Monterey Jack cheese. Dive face first into the main event: The Pit’s selection of steaks, Hickory smoked baby back pork ribs, or the Boston butt: a plate loaded with pulled pork, blackened sweet onions, smashed apple sauce, crisp smoked streaky bacon served on corn bread. Then there’s there’s an offering from south of the border, in the form of Mexican tacos, burritos and loaded nachos.
Those hankering after a prime beef patty sandwiched inside brioche will not be disappointed by the Pit Burgers. Their most popular dish by far, The Pit’s delicious bacon and pork burger served with chipotle mayonnaise, Monterey Jack cheese. frazzled onions and a distinctively American Rio BBQ sauce is bound to have you vowing to return for another, whilst those looking to test the steeliness of their stomachs may want to try their hand at the Pit Master: a monster of a burger, stacked with chicken, beef, bacon, pulled pork, melted Monterrey Jack cheese and beer battered onion rings.
Despite their passion for food from over the pond, the team behind The Pit pride themselves on their strong commitment to the local community, and all of the food served is locally sourced from a lot closer to home. Since the opening of the first branch of The Pit in 2013, all of the divine meat and poultry served has come from a reliable Yorkshire butcher.
A popular nightlife destination, The Pit is frequented by a young and trendy crowd come weekends and evenings, who make full use of the Loft’s ping pong tables. This underground gem occupies a lower-ground floor level on The Ginnel, in the centre of Harrogate. Just a short walk from Harrogate’s public transport hubs and all of the shops and bars, this casual dining mecca is a go-to for some highly recommended pre-night out stomach lining, as well as a well-deserved fill after a day spent shopping.
