An exciting dining experience complete with elements of showmanship, Sapporo is a teppanyaki based Japanese restaurant that serves a myriad mouth-watering dishes to the locals of Glasgow. The Tastecard discount is available on Saturdays up until 5pm.
Teppanyaki roughly translates to ‘iron plate’, which is exactly what the focus of Sapporo is on, with chefs cooking Japanese style delights on an exposed iron grill that enchantingly erupts in pillars of flames throughout the cooking experience.
Now accepting the tastecard, members who call in advance with their card can enjoy some superb discounts off all food ordered, providing the perfect excuse to sample some extra indulgences, such as a few more pieces of sushi or a hot bottle of sake.
Japanese cuisine doesn’t adhere to western serving methods, instead diners are encouraged to pick and choose several small plates before savouring a large dish, or simply keep things eclectic with an array of sushi and sashimi. With this in mind there’s little reason not to keep things diverse with some of the delicious sushi selections, such as the tantalising Wakame Temaki, a hand rolled nori seaweed cone filled with wakame seaweed, assorted vegetables and sesame seeds, and the delectable Manchester Roll, a combination of smoked swordfish and crabmeat rolled in a flying fish roe.
Those who aren’t keen on the concept of eating anything raw can still find plenty to get excited about. Particularly merit worthy meals include the wondrous fillet of turbot, complete with ginger and coriander, the delectable duck breast yakisoba, egg noodles mixed with vegetables and a Yakisoba sauce, and the heavenly Land & Sea, an irresistible pairing of beef fillet and half a lobster with a garlic butter.
Certainly worthy of visiting for a special occasion yet equally enticing as a venue for a special date night, Sapporo serves up great times with an undeniable degree of panache.
