Sat within the spectacular Park Lane Hotel in the bustling London area of Piccadilly, Mercante is a magnificent little eatery that offers all of the style and sophistication expected of a top restaurant in England’s capital city.
Be they staying overnight in one of the luxury bedrooms or merely passing gourmets looking to enjoy a sumptuous bite to eat, all who enter are given a warm welcome.
The invitation is now extended to tastecard members who, when eating from the a la carte menu, are able to partake in any of the dishes at a fabulous price when they call in advance with their card, leaving a little extra in the wallet for a drink or two. Created by Head Chef Davide D’ignazio, a young talent who has worked in a number of Roman kitchens and draws on his experience of Italian cuisine, the food at Mercante is constantly changing with the seasons, ensuring quality and freshness in every dish.
A divine introduction to any feast, the antipasti options available include such delights as the glorious meatballs in tomato sauce, a scrumptious collection of fried calamari, and the ultimate sharing platter of Artisan cured meats and Italian cheeses in the Mercante Board – any of which will serve to set the appetite up in style for one of the mouth-watering main courses to come. Particularly enticing examples of these choices known to have adorned the menu include the succulent fillet of pork, which comes complete with purple potato puree and a prune sauce, the pan-fried Ricotta, accompanied by a pumpkin veloute, and a heavenly lobster bisque.
Sat in between the idyllic settings of Hyde Park, Green Park and St. James’s Park, while also being just a stone’s throw away from such wondrous attractions as Westminster Abbey, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace, Mercante makes for a fine location in which to conclude a day of exploration.
