Located between the Stoneham Golf Course and the Willington Sports Ground, Sherwoods serves as a tastefully stylish restaurant that specialises in contemporary European delights.

Now accepting the tastecard, members calling in advance can enjoy everything on the eclectic menu at an incredible price, providing the perfect excuse to indulge in something from behind the bar.

Spearheaded by the talented Head Chef Calin Pop, the kitchen is awash with modern dishes, all of which are served in an utterly resplendent manner. A host of irresistible options adorn the menu, covering some more internationally inspired options throughout.

Tantalise the taste buds with one of the superb starters, such as the sumptuous El Paso chicken & chorizo balloutine, paired with a jalapeno dip, and the invigorating California roasted beets, complete with a goats cheese crumble, green leaves and an orange & Dijon mustard vinaigrette.

Continue onto the main courses, where a host of meat and fish options can be found alongside beloved staples like burgers and steaks. Outstanding selections include the rich pan seared salmon, adorned with a gremolata crust and presented on a bed of sautéed samphire, skin on potatoes & sundried tomatoes.

Also serving a specially made menu for the kids and a collection of heavenly desserts, all guests of all tastes can enjoy a sublime three course meal at Sherwoods.

Important Information

Please Note: Sherwoods is open Mon-Wed from 12-6 and Thur-Sat 12-10. Sundays are excluded due to Carvery menu being served.

    1. The first visit we received very pleasant drinks service in the carvery and a good choice of food with the vegetables not overcooked. We decided to try the restaurant downstairs in the week.

    2. I phoned to tell them I wanted to use my tastecard and to book at lunchtime. I was told I didn’t need to book as they weren’t very busy but the lady would “let them know we were coming”. On arrival the place was empty except a couple of staff having a meeting. We were told that only sandwhiches were available as they had “no gas” in the kitchen so we couldn’t have the BOGOF using tastecard. We accepted that things can go wrong but were surprised we hadn’t been told that when we rang to book.

    3. Another day, we tried the burger evening with a friend and had the BOGOF deal. Everything was fine but very few people in. Burgers was huge and very filling. We were served by a nice young man called Victor.

    4. Our second visit to the carvery recently and, again, drinks service was good.

    5. Then we suggested a group of us go one Thursday evening when we usually meet up. That was arranged and I sent a separate email to say that we wanted to use the tastecard..

    This was confirmed. My partner suggested we should let them know we were part of the group going and I responded to the confirmation to let the manager know who the group was.

    When we arrived and I mentioned the tastecard, the waitress said we might not be able to use the tastecard for 2 as we were in a group but she would have to check with the manager (but never came back to me/us). Orders were taken and billed individually/in couples and we were not given the tastecard discount. At that point, I was told that the manager had told 2 other couples they would not take the tastecard in the group. However, she did not tell me although she had responded positively to my email and did not send me a follow-up to say that they could not accept it when I told her we were part of a group visit.

    Those having the burgers were given the Thursday burger discount where there were two of them. The couple next to us had 2 burgers and a starter, we had a starter each, one of us a burger, the other a steak. My food experience was worse still my rib-eye steak was tough and gristly so I left most of it. There can be a lot of fat in rib-eye but this was gristly and the worse steak I have ever had anywhere. The waitress asked me if my food was OK when she saw I had left it and apologised when I told her it wasn’t good.

    When the bill came, the couple who had ordered 2 of the same style burger were billed for 1 burger and a starter. We were given 2 bills, one for 2 burgers (my husbands and one of couples burgers which was discounted on the bill given to us (only one was ours and the other was one of of the 2 the couple had ordered) . We were given a separate bill for my steak order and our drinks and our 2 starters. The discount applied to the other couple!

    Further there was also chaos because everybody was billed the full amount for starters that the group had been told were on offer by the waitress that evening. When someone protested, they re-issued the bills using the offer prices.

    I have forwarded the email between myself and the manager to Sherwoods and will be sending those notes Tastecard . The General Manager, should have told us specifically before we arrived by responding to my email. Additionally were were never told until the bill arrived. I do not see why they refused when they honoured their BOGOF deal for burgers. She has since explained to me that she told the group organiser and thought he would tell everyone that they would not honour tastecard.

    They are saying that they do not accept tastecard when part of a group, it only applies to 2 people dining separately. However, we were all billed separately but sat on 2 tabls.

    Finally, today, Ms Russo offered ‘to do something for me next time’. I pointed out to her that wasn’t saying exactly what she would do and her response was ‘it depends on what you come for’. Finally, she said she would give us one free meal. That would be good, except that their offer for tastecard is buy one get one free anyway.

    In conclusion, they have lost us as continuing customers. The amazing thing is that the free meal would have been my husband’s burger (the lowest price). Having said that, mine was a steak (which would have cost 5 pounds "
