2 for 1 at XIX Nineteen Restaurant

Sometimes an ordinary meal won’t do — especially in a city like London. Thankfully, diners that are seeking an exceptional dining experience will find it in the buzzing East London area of Stratford. XIX Nineteen has been gaining a loyal following of local foodies, who come to soak up the atmosphere, trendy décor and their eclectic menu of international favourites. It’s no wonder why it’s one of the best restaurants in London for dining out with a crowd.

Whether diners are locals that simply want to take a break from cooking and catch-up with friends or are tourists making the most of a few days out in the city, they’ll find that XIX Nineteen is one of the most convenient places to eat in London. Just up the road from the restaurant is Stratford shopping centre. While commuters will find the eatery just a stone’s throw from the station, making it perfect for those post-work treats.

XIX Nineteen may just be one of the most stylish indie London restaurants. Huge windows allow the space to be filled with light while colourful murals on the walls add a splash of colour. It’s a restaurant that wouldn’t look out place in trendy Shoreditch. Best of all, their cosy booths and laidback atmosphere means it’s relaxed enough for family meals or get-togethers with friends.

International restaurants don’t get much better than XIX Nineteen. They cater to everyone, with an eclectic, seasonal menu that has something for both meat lovers and veggies. Those looking for light bites can tuck into avocado and chickpea salads. But for something heartier, gourmet burgers, grilled steaks and more will certainly satisfy any appetite.

When it comes to big city style and international flavours, a meal at XIX Nineteen is bound to please. Any occasion will be even more of a treat for tastecard members who can enjoy exclusive restaurant savings when they call to book ahead and present their cards upon arrival. It’s a good chance to treat themselves to a bottle of wine, pudding or a starter to share with a friend.

After my fave Stratford based restaurants The Goose and The Langthorne stopped taking the Tastecard after a change of ownership, I was compelled to look elsewhere to justify my continued membership of the said Discount Card.

This place is brand new to Stratford and after some confusion (their location according to "Maps" is in West London!...Obviously some error there) and after checking on the phone I decided to try them. On a personal visit there in advance I was told that the discount didn't apply to all dishes...but The choices still seemed good to me.

Good news? Excellent food, good choice, plenty of room, nice decor and staff.

Bad news? Like SO MANY restaurants who (NOMINALLY) take the card, they treat the Tastecard as some imposition which they can chop and change and even drop AT WILL with NO notice or consideration.

In my case...DESPITE having confirmed with them by phone and in person just DAYS earlier that the Tastecard was valid ALL DAY everyday. I was told that they only took it after 5pm, BUT in this case they would give me 50% off. So I agree and place my order.

Food as stated was lovely but portions were a little small for me SO since I was hungry, was getting it half price JUST this once, AND had already decided I probably WOULDN'T be back soon due to their Tastecard policy I decided to order another course (again it was LOVELY).

Upon settling the bill however I was told that the discount was FIFTEEN percent NOT "fifty" (not what I heard and not what his lips said...though I'll give them the benefit of the doubt), I persisted and got the full discount I felt I had been promised. Even BEFORE this though they informed me that they wouldn't be accepting the Tastecard in future etc.

As I've said I've had this same basic experience with many restaurants I would have loved to have dined in. I understand COMPLETELY that running a restaurant (especially a NEW one) at a profit is not easy...but restaurateurs who CLEARLY state on the Tastecard app and website that they take the card need to understand that we PAY for our membership and that only makes sense if we eat out on the discount REGULARLY.

Good luck with the restaurant fellas ..lovely food, decor and staff as I said above, but there are better value options for me.....plus I want to USE that Tastecard! "

Food is Deli style and already prepared, felt a bit like getting my school dinner? Warmed in a microwave so came out a bit dry..
Good for a quick lunch has free WiFi so can easily take work with you.
Not brilliant if looking for made to order choice of meals..
    Worth a visit..just not for me. "
