Ruchi:"Not as good as it used to be We have dined at the Terrace Restaurant many times before and must say that on this occasion it fell far below standard for an average restaurant in a 5 star hotel especially the service.
My husband wanted some ice in his drink and 10-15 mins later we had to ask someone else again to bring it although the restaurant was barely half full and the majority of the others were only having afternoon tea(at 1.00pm!).
The food overall was good apart from my husband finding a bit of plastic in his lobster bisque. We were reassured that it was a piece from a pastry brush and nothing untoward and the dish replaced; so no problem with that.
My Guinea Fowl was well cooked but the cabbage that came with it was very bitter and the leeks were woody and chewy so I had to leave it.
We ordered desserts and two coffees to go with it. The desserts arrived first but the spoons didn't! 10- 15 minutes later we had to ask someone for spoons again! - not the service you get from a five star hotel but from a chain restaurant on a high street where the waiters change on a daily basis! ( they also placed the soup spoon on the inside of the fork for the mains which in itself is not an issue but shows that they clearly don't train their waiting staff)
Taking into consideration comparables in the area (I'm not talking about Ritz or Savoy but Homage, Mercante, Podium etc) the service, and therefore the entire experience fell far below standard.
It is indeed a shame as we used to really like the Terrace."

Anna:"Awful experience - walked out Our table was booked for 6pm as we had tickets for a show at 7:30 which was 5 min walk away. After we were shown to our seats it took 10 mins for someone to come and take our order (there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant). Our starters then turned up before our drinks 10 mins later, our drinks were diet cokes which wasn’t exactly difficult.
The starters themselves were a bit disappointing - the scallops are priced at £14 and I expected a bit more than 3 pieces sized as a 5p coin, definitely would not want to pay full price for them.
This was around 6:30. At 7pm I asked how long our main course was going to be (fillet steak so again, not very time consuming), and then had to get up and find a waitress 3 more times as they wouldn’t come back and tell us. Eventually at 7:15 the manager informed me that the chef “swears it will be 3mins” at which point we got up and left - I didn’t exactly fancy shoving that food down my throat in 5 mins and running to get to the show on time. Manager just followed up with “very sorry” and that was our parting words.
What was meant to be a celebratory dinner from me to my best friend ended up with us eating ham and cheese sandwiches from the nearby Pret as that was all we had time for. We weren’t even the only ones complaining that the food was late so god knows what they were doing in that kitchen.
This used to be one of my favourite places and instead now it’s somewhere I will never go to again."
