Opened by the passionate owner Mehmet after feeling that Kent required somewhere for sumptuous Turkish cuisine, A La Turka offers locals and visitors alike with somewhere to get their fix of the cuisine. Now accepting the Gourmet Society card, members who call in advance can enjoy everything on the eclectic menu at an incredible price, providing the perfect excuse to indulge on a little extra, whether it's with a few more mouth-watering mezze dishes or with something from the well-stocked bar. Every dish is made with locally sourced ingredients, such as the seafood coming from Faversham fishermen and the produce being selected by Mehmet personally from London markets, with the exception of the spices, which come directly from Gaziantep in Turkey. This dedication to freshness ensures that everything served at A La Turka will taste deliciously authentic. Tantalise the taste buds with one of the exceptional mezze starters, which can be enjoyed either at precursors to a larger meal or en masse as a diverse feast. Outstanding selections include the irresistible Jumbo Karides, king prawns pan cooked with the chef's special sauce, the scrumptious Imam Bayildi, a roast vegetable, mushroom and chickpea stuffed aubergine adorned with a tomato sauce, and the rich Arnavut Cigeri, a medley of lamb liver, onions and parsley and all pan fried. Continue onto the main courses, where a diverse array of wonders await. These dishes cater well to all tastes and offer a true taste of Turkey, which can be seen in such choices as the rich Levrek Izgara, a whole chargrilled sea bass partnered with chips and a side salad, the hearty veggie friendly Sarma Beyti, an enticing ensemble of aubergine, tomatoes and mixed peppers wrapped in a cheese covered lavash bread, and the heart-warming Tavuk Guvec, a chicken stew enriched with mushrooms, onions and a special tomato sauce.
