Offer is not available on Sunday due to running a Carvery Sitting just outside of Stowmarket, The Magpie Inn is a wonderful village pub and restaurant. It's hard to miss this huge Grade II listed pink cottage with its abundance of flower filled hanging baskets at the front, and once tried, it's also rather hard not to return. Owners Malcolm and Zheng Zheng have created a real little community hub with The Magpie Inn and the fabulously diverse menu represents its affable owners well. The menu is filled with an array of homemade delights, and combines classic British pub grub dishes with a good range of Asian specialities. Tuck into starters of homemade pork dumplings or Thai garlic and chilli mushrooms whilst main courses range from Cumberland sausages with egg, chips and peas to sir fired beef in black bean sauce with fried rice or Malaysian chicken curry with rice. To cleanse the palate, a sticky sweet ice cream sundae or classic British pudding of apple pie with custard does the trick. The bar serves up a great wine list to accompany the food and there is a superb choice of beers, spirits and soft drinks too. Recently refurbished, The Magpie Inn is now split into a sports bar, lounge and restaurant, offering something for everyone. The restaurant area is smart and stylish with plenty of period character from the low beamed ceilings and feature fireplace. A friendly welcome is guaranteed at this charming village pub, whether a local of the village or simply passing through.
