What films are coming to the cinema this April?

April 8th, 2022

By Dylan Mitchell

Here's the movies we're excited about this month.

April is stuffed with tons of family-friendly film releases. From vampire superheroes to coin-collecting hedgehogs – this month, there's a movie for everyone, no matter their age.

We know we're always banging on about it, but with an offer this good, we'd be daft not to: tastecard gives you up to 40% on cinema tickets at the nation's best-loved chains. That means you'll have extra money in your pocket to splash on an Ice Blast or pick 'n' mix. Yum.

From one bat-themed superhero flick to another, Marvel's latest anti-hero Dr. Michael Morbius – better known solely as Morbius – hits the screens this April. The film features Jared Leto as Michael Morbius – a seriously ill scientist with a rare blood disorder who goes to the extremes to find a treatment. But, as is the case with all superhero movies, it's not that simple. His success comes at a devastating cost; he only goes and infects himself with a type of vampirism instead.

Release date: 1st April 2022

Cast: Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, Tyrese Gibson.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Who doesn't love a spiky blue coin chasing character? Sonic the Hedgehog's been around since 1991, and now, over 30 years later, he's back again in his second feature-length film. Following in the footsteps of the first flick, the evil Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carey) is back once more, and this time he's not alone. He's returned to earth with a new sidekick, Knuckles the Echidna, to find a mysterious emerald that has the power to cause serious destruction. All that stands in their way is Sonic and his new buddy Tails, who set out on a journey across the globe to find the jewel before it causes any harm.

Release date: 1st April 2022

The Bad Guys.

Thanks to their incredible heists, Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark, and Ms. Tarantula are all notorious names in the criminal underworld. So it was only a matter of time before they finally got caught. With a prison sentence looming, they're given one more lifeline – to become model citizens and have their charges are dropped. Under the watchful eye of their mentor, Professor Marmalade, the animal outlaws set out to pull off their most challenging con yet: tricking the world into believing they're finally turned good.
