More intelligent and more secure payments are on the way. The new Payment Services Directive is coming soon.
To make online shopping safer and more secure, a few changes to how you pay are to set happen soon. We're doing our bit to provide a seamless, secure experience for you here at tastecard.
Soon, we may ask you to confirm it's actually you when you're paying for your membership. This could be via an SMS or through your banking app. So that things run as smooth as possible, double-check that your bank has your current mobile number.
What is the Payment Services Directive (PSD2)?
The Payment Services Directive is a set of EU laws and regulations that help protect your online payments from fraud. An update to these regulations called PSD2 is coming into effect in the next few months. This latest update will make online shopping even safer, smarter, and more secure. In line with the new legislation, the ways we handle online payments will change, and you might have to occasionally confirm your identity.
How will this change my online shopping experience?
We're doing what we can to make sure you can carry on enjoying a smooth online checkout experience. For security reasons, we might sometimes ask whether it's actually you before taking payment. There are a few ways we may do this. We might ask you to confirm a four-digit PIN code that we'll send to your mobile number or use fingerprint or facial recognition within your banking app to verify a transaction. You'll be given easy steps to follow but, if you need a hand, please get in touch with us. We'll be more than happy to help.
What should I do to prepare?
Double-check your details are up to date with your bank. Make sure your contact details, including your mobile number, linked to your payment cards and banking app are correct – this makes any identity checks during the payment process extra smooth and secure.
