Summer Mission: To dine outdoors at the best independent London restaurants.

Sound like yours? We’ve scouted seven of the best places for dining outside in London this summer. And what’s better, they all accept tastecard. So, you can bag 50% off food or 2 for 1 meals whilst supping in the sun. You’re so welcome.

Mac & Wild.

Is it the Scottish Highlands? No, it’s Mac & Wild. Owned by Scots, Andy ‘Wild’ Waugh and Calum ‘Mac’ Mackinnon, the pair offer hearty Scottish dishes in London’s Devonshire Square. We recommend the haggis pops and venison scotch egg “wee plates”, along with the Venimoo burger – which features both beef and venison patties. And for vegans, it’s gotta be the Bloody Roots Burger with a Macsween veggie haggis patty.

The Rosendale Public House and Garden.

Looking for a laid-back spot with good, hearty food? Introducing one of the best beer gardens in London. The crème de la crème of classic pub grub, The Rosendale serve classics like sirloin steak with chips and beer battered fish & chips, as well as artisan stone-baked pizzas. We’d recommend the chorizo, goat cheese, tomato, mozzarella and black olive pizza. Yum.

If you’re in Camden, head to Gabeto and bask in the buzz as well as the eclectic menu. A concoction of Latin and British flavours, we’re talking tasty tapas and tacos stuffed with anything from duck to sweet potato. Plus, seafood dishes like the grilled seabass served with chilli & coconut broccolini, crispy onions and burnt lime. Make sure you’ve got your good-time hat on for the live music.

Set on Paul’s Walk right next to the Millennium Bridge, Northbank is the place to head to on sun-scattered London days for a cracking view of the Thames. Known for its seafood, make sure you try the crab doughnuts with garlic mayonnaise, gin-cured salmon and the seared seabass. Or if seafood isn’t your thing, there are plenty of meat and veggie options to get your chops around too.

Specialising in vegan, vegetarian and gluten free French galettes and crêpes, KataKata is nestled right in the hubbub of vibrant Brixton. With a menu just as zesty as its interiors, expect everything from savoury jerk tofu with sweet potato to sweet strawberry, white chocolate and coconut versions. Hosting healthy-eating workshops and live acoustic music evenings, take in a little culture whilst you’re there.

Salsa! Soho.

With Latino music on loop and tons of fiery dishes to try, head to Salsa! Soho for an authentic taste of South America. The Chicken Xim Xim Curry should be at the top of your list: a South American stew made up of crayfish, chicken, peanut butter, coconut milk and veg, served with spicy rice. Trust us, it’s a gooden. And make sure you bring your best dance moves for a post-dinner boogie. Salsa style, of-course.

The Garden Terrace at the London Elizabeth Hotel.

Looking for English-garden charm? The Garden Terrace at the London Elizabeth Hotel has bags of it thanks to its rose garden and herb garden. And the menu isn’t too shabby either. Dig into rustic home-cooked British classics like grilled lamb and rib-eye steak. Or tuck into Persian dishes – our favourite is the Ghormeh Sabzi: lamb stew with a blend of mixed Persian herbs, kidney beans and sundried lime.
