Curry is big business in Birmingham as it is across the United Kingdom and the Curry Garden Restaurant in King's Heath is the perfect example of a traditional curry house. Situated on the outskirts of Birmingham city centre and just a short walk from the University of Birmingham campus, the Curry Garden Restaurant is as traditional as an Indian restaurant can be. Customers return time and time again thanks to the excellent service and great food served. Old favourites fill the menu such as chicken curry, tikka masala and biriyani and side dishes like the spinach filled sag aloo or the garlicky lentil dish of tarka dahl are always hot favourites. There are some rather more unusual dishes featuring on the Curry Garden Restaurant's menu too like the wonderfully tasty and succulent tamarind lamb which melts in the mouth with its sweet and tangy flavours or the delicious salmon tikka bhuna - a barbecued fille of salmon cooked in a rich bhuna curry sauce along with tomatoes and green peppers. Peshwari naan with almonds and nuts and lemon chilli rice provide an excellent accompaniment. Expect a typical Indian restaurant interior at the Curry Garden Restaurant with well-presented tables topped with clean and crisp linens, fancy napkins and shiny silverware. Wash dinner down with a bottle of classic Indian beer or a glass of crisp white wine. The staff are happy to help with recommendations from the menu too which is always good to hear. They certainly know their bhunas from their biriyanis at the Curry Garden Restaurant where traditional Indian dining stands firm.
