Please Note: The Lighthouse has been known to get extremely busy in November, therefore tastecard members are highly recommended to book early during this month to avoid disappointment. Sitting beside the river in the historic city of Oxford, just a few minutes from the train station and many of the areas attractions, The Lighthouse is a charming pub and restaurant. The nautical theme certainly doesn?t stop with the name at this Oxford establishment; the decor has a strong nautical vibe too with plenty of references to nautical life found in every corner. It may be an English pub upon first glance, but The Lighthouse menu travels far and wide, offering a variety of dishes, mostly from the Mediterranean. Tuck into a hearty dish of lamb estofado - a rich and flavoursome lamb stew cooked with red wine and shallots and served with buttered carrots, fresh thyme and a toasted baguette. The Mariner's chicken is another good dish, cooked with red chilli, lemon and coriander for a fragrant taste. Calamari al la Romana (battered squid) is served with Marie Rose sauce and lemon whilst the Spanish potato omelette is superb, cooked with onion and paprika for extra flavour. Shares might like the cheese and charcuterie boards, perfect accompanied by a cold pint or glass of wine. Old ships wheels decorate the walls and old fashioned deep sea diver?s helmets have been formed into the most unusual light fittings at The Lighthouse. The bar serves up a good range of beers and ales as well as fine wines from all around the world. Enjoy the brilliantly fresh Mediterranean menu and unique setting at The Lighthouse in central Oxford.
