Cinema spotlight: The Housemaid reviewed

“The Housemaid is an adaptation of the best selling book of same name, starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. I haven't read the book, so I came without expectations or comparisons.

Sweeney plays Millie, a young girl on parole from prison, who is hired as a live-in housekeeper with the super-wealthy Winchester family. Seyfried plays the wife Nina, whose charming demeanour quickly turns unhinged, while Brandon Sklenar plays Andrew, the handsome and devoted husband. There are twists and turns throughout this domestic thriller and it kept me entertained throughout.

Might not be a cinematic masterpiece but it is a solid popcorn film — the kind you watch to switch off, get absorbed in the story, and enjoy the ride. And sometimes that is everything we need!
