What is Poké?

In the heart of Hawaii, the word "poké" means "slice" or "dice," and it's no surprise that Island Poké has perfected the art of crafting bowls that are a homage to this tradition. These bowls are a harmonious fusion of fine cuts of marinated raw fish, fragrant rice, a variety of fresh vegetables, and sauces bursting with flavour. We were lucky enough to take a trip to one of Island Poké London locations and sample a few of their Hawaiian delights. Here are a few of our personal favourites:

Spicy Ahi Tuna Poké Bowl

Calling all seafood lovers, this one's a tropical delight. Picture slices of tuna marinated in a saucy shoyu (soy sesame) dressing, paired with the smokiness of burnt sweetcorn and the zing of pineapple chilli salsa. Fresh chilli, spring onion, and a sprinkle of togarashi complete this bowl, bringing a burst of sunshine to your taste buds.

Teriyaki Tofu Poké Bowl

Vegans, rejoice! Island Poké has a bowl crafted just for you. It features smoked tofu dressed in a shiitake teriyaki sauce, complemented with sweet-yet-spicy pineapple chilli salsa, edamame, wakame seaweed, spring onion, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. So good.

This delightful creation features succulent Lomi Lomi Salmon, bathed in a zesty Yuzu dressing. With a medley of tastes and textures, including tender wakame, creamy wasabi mayo, crisp spring onions, and a delicate sprinkle of sesame seeds, each bite is seriously delicious.
