Just like Father Christmas, we recommend making a list and checking it twice. Without a strict Christmas budget, your present total will seriously start to add up. Before you sprint to the shops or order online, you need to take a seat, pull out a notepad (or excel spreadsheet), jot down who you actually need to buy for, and set a budget for each person. This way, you’ll have a clear tracker of who you buy for and how much you spend, so you don't find yourself scraping your pennies together for a last-minute gift.
If you snooze, you lose. Retail deals can disappear in a flash, especially if the discount is a real steal. You need to keep your eyes peeled on sites like MoneySavingExpert and Offer of the Day, be on the ball, and grab a bargain when you see it.
This is one for the tastecard members – have a flick through our Member Perks and checkout out our curated list of delicious discounts and deals. We constantly update our list of offers, so it’s best to have a flick through every now and then. There are tons of super savings on travel, tech, alcohol, and more. If you’re already a tastecard member, have a flick through today; if you’re not, sign up and browse!
How many Christmases have you bought a giant turkey, tons of trimmings, and stockings full of snacks for loads of it to go to waste? Well, this year, cut back on the food you purchase and put the money you save back into your Christmas present pot.
Shopping second-hand is one of our favourite ways to save money on Christmas presents. Charity shops, thrift stores, eBay, Vinted, and Depop are jam-packed with millions of potential gifts. Not only are you bound to bag yourself a bargain, but you’ll be also doing the environment a favour by reusing an item someone no longer wants and stopping it from heading to a landfill site.
Selling the things you don’t use is a fantastic way to raise more money for Christmas presents. If you’ve got tons of stuff lying around that you haven’t touched since last Christmas, get it sold. You might not have a use for it, but it could be the exact thing somebodies after. Who knows? You might make somebodies Christmas.
