Knowing just how to lure him out of exile, he uses the only thing that could tempt him as bait – a human.

The Shining.

Probably the best old horror movie ever, The Shining follows Jack Torrance and his family move into a remote hotel with a dark past when Jack gets writer’s block. Living in isolation and with a sinister presence lurking, Jack starts to lose his sanity and begins terrorising his family – cue the “Here’s Johnny!” scene. All the while, his son, Danny, discovers a new, telepathic gift called the “shining”.

Doctor Sleep.

Sequel to The Shining, which we’d recommend watching first, Doctor Sleep follows Jack’s son, Dan Torrance, years later. Still traumatised by previous events, he meets a fellow extrasensory ‘shine’ giftee, Abra, who he forms a wholesome ally with. The two battle the True Knot cult, who try and feed off others’ ‘shine’ in an attempt to become immortal themselves. As far as sequels go, this is one of the good ones.

The Evil Dead.

A classic 1980s horror movie, The Evil Dead was made on a low budget but still remains a cult classic.
